About Us

Flores Advisors, LLC (FA) is dedicated to helping organizations that deliver health and human services build their capacity to best serve their diverse populations and communities. FA is a consulting firm serving a wide range of healthcare and public service organizations through three practice areas: Language Access Planning and Compliance for Healthcare and Public Service Organizations; Healthcare Compliance; and Human Rights Campaign – Healthcare Equality Index. In addition, FA provides technical assistance, training and support to federal grantees of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services on comprehensive language access planning to improve care management of underserved patients.

Flores Advisors LLC was established in July 2020 by founder Gabriela Flores to provide education and training consulting services with a specific focus on diversity, equity and inclusion topics. While Flores Advisors LLC is still relatively young, Gabriela Flores has over 20 years of experience in health and human services with 10 years as adjunct faculty dedicated to educating healthcare professionals. Flores Advisors LLC is a Woman and Hispanic-owned organization, although not yet certified as an MBE/WBE.

Flores Advisors has consulted with the UMKC Collaborative for Advancing Health Services as well as the SAMHSA funded national Opioid Resource Network. Ms. Flores developed and delivered specialized curriculum content for a Mental Health Service Providers in the Wichita area, focused on trauma-informed and culturally competent care delivery for refugee and immigrant communities. For the Opioid Resource Network (ORN), Ms. Flores worked to develop and deliver curriculum for substance use counselors and mental health providers on unconscious bias and trauma-informed care delivery. Furthermore, the ORN contract included development and delivery of training for healthcare interpreters in substance use disorders.

gabriela Flores, BA, MSM

Gabriela Flores has over twenty-five years of experience working in the area of health and human services, specifically with refugee and immigrant populations in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Her area of emphasis has been in language access, diversity and health equity. Ms. Flores currently serves as the Director of the Center for Equity, Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement for Kansas City Kansas Community College. Her role is to create and implement an organizational framework across the college system focusing on educational equity, diversity and inclusion, which includes strategies specifically related to community engagement. Previously she served as the Director of the Office of Equity and Diversity at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. In addition, Ms. Flores served as the Director of Interpreter Services for Truman Medical Centers (TMC), a Level I trauma center and safety net hospital for Kansas City, Missouri.

During her most recent role as Director of the Office of Equity and Diversity, one of her primary functions was to develop and implement a diversity, equity and inclusion educational strategy across a health system of 8300 employees. This included curriculum design and instruction for healthcare professionals in the following areas: unconscious bias, micro-messages, introduction to LGBTQ health, supporting trans-gender youth to navigate health, trauma-informed care for refugees and immigrants, and inclusive leadership.

In addition, Ms. Flores has served as adjunct faculty at Johnson County Community College for the Healthcare Interpreting Program for Spanish Interpreters as well as in a similar adjunct capacity at the Metropolitan Community Colleges. Ms. Flores served as a Commissioner for the national Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters from 2012 to 2018. Ms. Flores holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, a Master’s in Business Management, and has completed the American Hospital Association’s Cultural Competency Leadership Fellowship (2006). Ms. Flores is also a KC Chamber Centurion Alumni.


Currently, Ms. Flores serves on the board of directors for Girls on the Run KC, Gilda’s Club KC, Hope Wrx Food Pantry, and KCUR Community Advisory Board.
